The Blood Brothers

Yes, I'm obsessed with vampires. This story is about a vampire--Kaleo--and his brother (VAMPIRE), Erebus.

Kaleo looked around impaitently. It was already past eleven; at midnight the act must be made. The guests were busy drinking thingytails and dancing to notice as their host slinked along the corners, his bright red shirt a distraction to all the black and white objects around him. Kaleo liked red. It was his favorite color.
"Kaleo! Where have you been...?" He was pulled back by the shirt by a young girl. She was smiling brightly, looking at him as if expecting a warmer welcome.
"Ah...Dolores," he said with slight remembrance. He pulled her closer and whispered something in her ear. She giggled, nodded, and headed off to the kitchen. Kaleo watched her for a few moments, then turned back to the more important matters of the evening: finding his brother.
A couple more guests greeted him, Kaleo still trying to go unnoticed amongst the crowd. Finally, he spotted the mess of long, untidy silver hair bobbing through the crowd and smiled. "Erebus."

That's it for now! Will work on it some more later.

Erebus whipped his head around to find his brother, Kaleo. He too smiled, and turned to talk to him. "Ahh. I see you have lasted the night so far, brother."
"So you have noticed the vampire hunters as well?" Kaleo looked out of the corner of his eye at the two girls moving through the crowd towards them slowly. He smirked. This would be fun.
"But of course! They stick out like that red shirt you are wearing."
Kaleo scowled. That was probably why he had failed to go unnoticed amongst the ever growing mass of people. His attention soon slipped from his inconspicuous attire to the knife that hurtled past his ear and hit the wall. Both Kaleo and Erebus flicked their eyes to the owner of the weapon, a girl of sixteen and her friend. They assumed that they were both hunters. A small smirk appeared upon Kaleo's face. Soon it became contagious, spreading to Erebus's as well. Erebus cracked his knuckles and looked at his brother and both began to walk towards the girls. He was right. This was going to be fun.

Sarah, the girl who had thrown the knife, was the first to notice that the two vampires were coming for them. She whipped her head around and called to her partner. The other girl (Lily) tried to run away, but was stopped when Erebus teleported in front of her. He wagged his finger playfully. "Tsk tsk. Whatever shall I do with this one?" With a smirk, he reached out and grabbed her arm. Lily was hurtled across the room with a slight flick of Erebus's wrist.
Now it was Kaleo's turn. Sarah had been too busy watching her friend to notice as Kaleo crept up behind her. She quickly turned her head, but Kaleo had already grabbed her neck. He flung her to Erebus, who withdrew a knife and slashed her arm. Sarah dodged Erebus's next attack and slid onto the floor, panting. She examined the cut on her arm, which was now oozing red blood. Kaleo smiled. Red was his favorite color.
Lily awakened seconds later to find that both vampires were now inching towards Sarah. She reached down into her jeans and pulled out two knives. One was directed at Erebus, the other at Kaleo (who bent down to successfully reach Sarah's neck). She threw them with as much force as possible.
Erebus turned around in a split second and caught the knife. He smiled, beginning to walk towards Lily. Kaleo wasn't as lucky. Too absorbed in destroying Sarah, the knife entered his back. He paused, as did the rest of the room. Silence fell amongst the crowd. Slowly, he reached with his hand to pull out the weapon. It took a moment, but the knife was safely out of him. He dropped it next to him and turned his head to look at Lily. The eye that was visibly free from his hair glared.

Kaleo muttered something in a foreign language, and smiled evilly. Erebus looked from Kaleo to Lily and back, wondering who would make their move first. Lily tensed as Kaleo drew out his blade.
Sarah, meanwhile, had been creeping up behind Kaleo in order to succesfully injure him. She looked around for something hard and sturdy. Picking up a candle holder, she raised it above her head. Erebus, however, was too quick for her. She was pinned down to the ground before she took another breath. He held her there, now returning his gaze to his brother.
Kaleo did not move as his brother took down one of his foes. His eyes stayed directly pasted onto Lily's face. He did not smile. Whether it was out of fear or determination, Lily did not smile either. She slowly withdrew her last two blades, which she had kept on her back. This would most likely be her last battle. This was a matter of life or death, and Lily chose life.
Lily hurtled herself across the room towards Kaleo. He swiftly moved out of the way, flipping his own blade in his hands. She turned around and did multiple karate kicks at his head, which he dodged by moving backwards. The party-goers now stopped to watch the fight. Others drifted away to different rooms. The fight continued.
Lily grabbed Kaleo's hands, which made him drop the knife, and flipped him behind her. He stood, perfectly in balance, with her hands still in hers and smiled. With much force he flipped Lily towards the wall. She hit a chair before she could reach that far, and got back up. Kaleo began to run towards her. She turned around, but there was nowhere to run. She was trapped...or so Kaleo thought.
As Kaleo neared, Lily ran towards the wall at full speed. She ran up the wall and flipped over Kaleo. As she flipped, he had thrown a knife. It hit the wall. He angrily raced up and pulled it out, looking over at the girl. She was running at him with full speed. She hurled the daggers.

Kaleo cursed as both blades entered his chest, pinning him to the wall. His eyes widened as she began to pull out a stake, and he quickly disposed of the knives holding him down and ducked. Looking to his wounds he noticed that these would take a little longer to heal than expected.

Erebus watched, wishing he had some popcorn to thoroughly enjoy this scene. He sighed, in his mind lamenting the woes of popcornless fights. Returning to the matter at hand, he noticed Sarah had a gun hidden in her boot. "Nice try," he muttered, taking it out and placing it into his pocket.

Kaleo whipped around, ducking as Lily hurled another dagger at him. Man, was this girl angry. Seconds later, however, Kaleo had both of her arms pinned to the wall, a malicious grin spreading across his face. "Now, now--what to do?" He licked his lips and leaned in towards her neck. Lily paled, struggling to get out of the current situation. As Kaloe neared, however, his brother's voice rang out across the room.

"Kaleo! Outside!" His eyes flicked to the window next to him, where the sun was just beginning to rise. Erebus swore and let go of Sarah, who fell softly to the ground. Kaleo shook his head and reluctantly let go of Lily.

Kaleo nodded to his brother, and both disappeared, as well as most of the other party guests. Vampires, Lily thought to herself, watching as Sarah crept over to examine her wounds. All of them. Bloodsuckers. Her last thoughts echoed in her head as she drifted off to sleep.

OOC: Inviting some more of my characters...this is all from a story I am beginning to write. Be paitent! Now there are two more--Saviel and Lesius. Basic info on each.
Sav- long, black hair tied back into a ponytail. light blue eyes. brother was a werewolf, but with the help of the others he was destroyed.
Lesius- short black hair with a silver patch at the front. black hair is highlighted in streaks of green. black eyes. has no relatives, thinking of sav as his younger brother.

Saviel cursed as he missed again. The man on the turning circle before him squeaked in terror as yet another weapon sunk next to his leg, but not quite touching it. The circle was started once more as Erebus, standing to its side, whisked it with a flick of his wrist. Saviel stared at the table in front of him, making the decision of which weapon to throw next.

Plink! Another dagger landed next to the man's leg, as if carefully placed to align his body. Saviel scowled.

Kaleo and Lesius stood a couple of feet to the other side of the turning wheel, sipping wine and watching their friend distribute his anger into the contraption. Kaleo raised an eyebrow as Saviel ferociously threw an axe at the man strapped down. Once again, he missed. "You promised I could be next, Savvy dear," he mused, almost as if a three year old whining.

Saviel looked up briefly, grimacing. He nodded to Erebus, who stopped the wheel's rotation. "Fine." He waved his hand and instantly Kaleo was at the man's side, who was apparently one of the butlers, and unstrapped him. He watched as the small man ran out of the room. Erebus helped his brother up and onto the wheel. Kaleo, now grinning, began to spin around.

Selecting a twin pair of daggers, Saviel flung them with all his might. One hit Kaleo in the hand, the other between his arm and leg. Kaleo frowned with disappointment. "That's it? I've seen Erebus do better with his eyes closed and that was when he was alive." The frown turned into a smile as a sword was quickly flung into the air. It landed in his chest. "That's the Sav I know!"

Lesius frowned as well, but for a different reason. He walked over to his best friend and laid a hand on his shoulder. "Are you feeling okay?" His eyes showed worry as Lesius tilted his head, examining his friend.

"Fine," Saviel grunted, shrugging off the other's hand. He frowned and turned around, holding his head as if to massage it. He whipped around again, glaring savagely and sighing. "Where did that servant go? I need to shoot something..."

Kaleo, still spinning on the wheel, rolled his eyes. This proved more difficult than he had expected, seeing as even his brother couldn't tell his expression from circling from floor to ceiling. "Are you sure?" he chimed in.

Saviel sighed, looking at the others. He didn't deserve to have such friends. He didn't, in fact, deserve to exist. It was a lucky mishap that he was bitten just before he died. He blinked and eased down into one of the cushioned chairs in the dungeon. He took a deep breath and reached for one of the wine glasses on the table. "Just tired, I guess. Why don't you tell me about your evening? I do recall you came later than usual," he said, nodding at Kaleo and Erebus.

Kaleo exchanged a glance with his brother. "Well, would you like us to tell you the truth or to lie? The lie might be nicer for your thoughts, friend," he replied slowly, as if choosing his words very carefully.

Saviel frowned. "The truth, I suppose."

Kaleo sighed, and Erebus spoke for him. "Well, this might take a while," he said, giving a shrug.
